House Chants

Brooke and Olivia
On Friday, we had our school house chant competition. We have spent the last two weeks practicing chants and skits. On the day we had to dress in our house colours and costumes parade around the block with a chant. Then we all went into the hall so Mrs Schumacher could draw out which house was going first.

Henry and friends
Weka was drawn first and had to perform their skit and chant. They all looked like Zombies. Next was Kaka and Aria looked like an awesome Kaka all dressed up in costume. Kiwi was next and their chant was based on the song Happy. Lastly Tui got to have their turn. Their skit was a circus act with clowns, mimes, gymnasts and magicians.

The judges then went out to deliberate over who won. This year's winners were Tui. They won the house chant cup for 2014.

Buddies

This year we are buddies with Room 30 at Point View school. We have worked hard drafting and publishing letters to our buddies. Here is a snapshot of what some of our letters looked like.

We hope Room 30 enjoy reading our letters and we hope to hear back from them soon.

Shellfish Monitoring

This term we could not go shellfish monitoring at Kawakawa bay as there had been bones found when some workers were digging for drains.

Instead we had Auckland council come and talk to us about the different types of dolphins and whales in the Hauraki Gulf and we participated in a play about sediment and how if we remove all the trees and plant life from beside rivers and streams it causes lots of dirt to wash downstream and kill our cockles and shellfish.
